Who Can Live at the Village
The Village exists for retired missionaries. Here is who qualifies and how to begin.
Retired Missionaries of SIM and Like-Minded Agencies
The Village was built for retirees of SIM. It is open to retired missionaries of other like-minded, qualifying agencies as well.
Questions about your own situation are best answered in conversation, and we are glad to have that conversation.
How to Begin
We work in relationship. Reach out to the SIM USA Retiree Coordinator or call the Village, and someone will walk with you personally through the application, one step at a time. There is no online form to fill out on your own.
- For application details, call the Retiree Coordinator at 704-587-1562 or email the Village office at sebring.manager@sim.org.
- Come and see the Village. Call the Village Manager at the Sebring office, 863-385-6058, to plan your visit. You are encouraged to come during a conference or for the weekly prayer meeting, and you can stay in one of the Village guest houses as part of the visit.
- If the Village is at capacity, we will talk with you about the waiting list.

For Adult Children and Sending Churches
Many residents choose the Village with the help of their children or their sending church. These are the questions they ask first.
Is there a waiting list?
Only when the Village is at capacity.
Can a couple move in if only one of them served as a missionary?
Yes.
What happens if a resident later needs more care?
Health Advocates, specially trained volunteers, can accompany a resident to appointments and check in at home. The Lodge, the Village’s assisted living residence, is on campus for the season when daily living needs more help. Village residents have priority for the Lodge, subject to bed availability, and the conversation starts with the Village Manager. Two hospitals and nursing home facilities are in the town of Sebring.
What does the monthly fee include?
Operating costs and maintenance. The amount is set according to the size of the home, and the Retiree Coordinator can go over current fees with you.
Can family stay overnight when they visit?
Yes. If a resident’s home doesn’t have room, the Village has several guest houses that family can rent.
Are pets allowed?
Yes.
Does the home belong to the resident?
No. The home remains the property of SIM. The one-time occupancy fee gives the resident the right to live in the home for life. It is not refundable upon death.
